Audrey Hepburn, Coco Chanel or Che Guevara talking on a cell phone?

A T-shirt collection presents pop icons of the pre-cell phone age talking on the devices

Audrey Hepburn, Coco Chanel or Che Guevara talking on a cell phone—that's the proposal of "Pop Icons with Cell Phones," a T-shirt collection in which you can see pop icons of the pre-cell phone age talking on the devices. The other celebrities featured in this collection are Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley and Andy Warhol.

This collection was created by Ironic Lux, a T-shirt brand founded over a year ago. Headquartered in Madrid (Spain), it is an online business with customers all over the world. It is a brand created with the intention to bring irony and humor to the fashion industry. Its creative director, Nahia del Valle, is a recognized influencer on Instagram whose account (@ironic__girl) has over 20,000 followers.

Pop Icons

"The purpose of this collection is to play with the images of pop icons who have left a mark on pop culture in recent years," explains Nahia del Valle, creative director of Ironic Lux. "Images of Coco, Marilyn, Audrey Hepburn, Elvis, Warhol, and Che have been and still are everywhere (T-shirts, magazines, posters, TV, social media, etc.) in recent years. Some of these images, like the one of Che Guevara, were chosen by Time magazine as among the most influential photos in history," she adds.

"All of these celebrities have become sort of pop culture saints revered all over the world. I thought it would be fun to be disrespectful of pop culture, ironize the myths of modernity. That's why the idea of showing them with cell phones in their hands seemed very interesting to me—it's an image that demystifies them and makes them earthly. I also think they're people who would definitely be using their cell phone all the time today," Valle concludes.

The "Pop Icons with Cell Phones" collection has an innovative marketing campaign. The illustrations printed on the T-shirts come to life in funny videos, with the characters from the collection singing or talking on a cell phone. Which means you can see Coco Chanel or Che Guevara, for example, singing pop songs.
